Lean Enterprise
| Seelye Craftsmen Co. began it's Lean
Journey early on in 2005. We began by attacking the non-value added
activities associated with work flow on the shop floor. The first
Kaizen event was such a success we couldn't wait to get started on
the next. Since then we have completed over 15 Kaizen events and numerous
"point" events. We have seen our overall lead times shrink,
our on-time delivery percentages improve, our WIP and raw material
inventories decline and our productivity skyrocket! The philosophy
of Lean has really taken root at Seelye Craftsmen Co..
But, are we done? Not by a longshot. Instead of weeklong events, as
we did in the begining, we now aim to complete our Kaizen events in
no more than two days. Lean has also spilled over into the front office.
Improving work order flow, purchasing activities and accounting functions.
